We’re back and burning. Burning with the desire to get the hell out of lockdown and support our local artists to the fullest. And so, we’re not gonna waste any time.

Five fire tracks by local artists, coming right up! Check it below.

ANGE – ‘Antidote’

ANGE overflows with sensual steam in ‘Antidote,’ the Sydney/Eora based enchantress tapping into your deepest and lushest desires for love and affection, and all of the dreamy transcendence the two entail.

The potion of sonics sees the the Spanish-born starlet flutter atop ethereal synths and instrumentation, her English/Spanish alternating vocals treading upon them with equal measures of allure and honesty. They swirl together wonderfully, bounding together to soundtrack the moments of self-realisation that follow exposure to unrequited love. Naturally, her lyrics are as vulnerable and utterly-inviting as they were on ‘Coming For U,’ infused with culture and feeling as they’re brought to life by her powers of melody and beat.

Need a soundtrack for the intimate moments that’s refined, classy and oozing with feeling? ANGE has more than got you taken care of on ‘Antidote,’ let her be the cure to any woes that plague your being.

Dubbel Drop – ‘Ecstasy’

Melbourne/Naarm duo Dubbel Drop are alive with feeling and bravado in their floor-to-the-floor banger ‘Ecstasy,’ the production maestros reaching through the confines of lockdown to get your heart racing and skipping a bodacious amount of beats.

The groove follows the funk lords as they make wonderful use of vocal chops and bombastic basslines, the two textures accompanied by life-affirming synths and claps as they take a walk on the wild side of all things exhilarating. The result is a four-minute heater that puts it into second gear and revs the hell forward, all while the duo immerse you in vibrant pastels of orange and blue. But it’s not all pedal to the metal, the duo curating meditative moments like that of 2:30 that allow you to take stock of their creation, all before plunging you headfirst into the fire of Dubbel Drop inferno (AKA stank-tinged nirvana).

It’s a track that that beats around no bushes and wastes no time; just a simple tune to put a spring in your step and fire in your belly, all while reminding you of the ecstasy life can be rife with, should you choose to open yourself up to it.

James Pepper & Black Loops – ‘Three Drops’

Sydney/Eora producer James Pepper and Black Loops traverse the expanse in all of its cosmic vibrancy in ‘Three Drops,’ the sonic explorers tapping into the primal need to dance and rave into the early hours of the morning.

The heater sees the two wizards of the beat throw down driving kicks and sentient-like drones, both of which reverberate around your being utterly and fully. It has this oddly meditative quality to it as well, the recurring synth line charged with mysticism as the collage of drums constantly shifts and expands beneath it. It’s all magnified in the track’s numerous drops (three, to be exact), the layers colliding and exploding with a psychedelic-aura; almost as if you’re witnessing a cosmic cataclysm unfurl right before your eyes.

Look, it’s been a while since we had a solid dance floor. Do yourself a favour and chuck ‘Three Drops’ on repeat, and simply close your eyes as you’re transcended into a world beyond your own; one where treasure rooms are a regular occurrence and machine elves run rampant with desire.

LEX – ‘Bitter’

Dark pop sorceress LEX is permeating every waking moment of your being in ‘Bitter,’ the Gold Coast/Yugambeh’ singer-songwriter crafting an auditory embodiment of the unsavoury circumstances that have manifested in her life, and her efforts to overcome them in her journey to fulfilment.

The three-minute slow burn sees LEX double down on the tantalising vocals she displayed on her last offering ‘C’EST LA VIE,’ reinforced by minimal synth layers and intricate drums that entrance you into the series of events that have led her to the present moment. The harmonies on the hook further add to the immersion, the juxtaposition between her head and chest voice amplified by the waves of intensity that radiate off every chordal emanation.

Long story, we’ve all got a bunch of shit we’re trying to come to grips with in our own lives, but it’s rare that you hear a musical embodiment of it that rings true; one that strikes a nerve impossible to ignore or burn within. LEX has crafted such a creation, and it’s one that gets more resonant with each and every listen.

MorningMaxwell, Max Glyde & Blush’ko – ‘Delfina’

MorningMaxwell and Max Glyde liven up your being with the power of swing in ‘Delfina,’ the sonic maestros filling you with all the gravitasse and braggadocios steeze you’ll ever need in this life and the next.

The track witnesses the pair blessed with the sensual vocals of Blush’ko, his tenor utterances gliding atop MorningMaxwell’s frenzied stabs and Max Glyde’s chordal transcendence. Together they venture through all space and stars, delving into wormholes of funk and soul with fractal trumpets and guitar riffs helping to propel them forward. It’s a cosmic groove in every sense, one that transcends all time through it’s love-lettering to the 80s and inevitable future; a future that gets brighter with each and every listen of the bop.

It’s a track that’s as smooth as silk, one that caresses your pores ever so gently, ever so sweetly. Take their collective hand into the Milky Way, and just revel in their waviness; feel their allure.
