Julian Hamilton AKA one half of Sydney legends The Presets is stepping out on his own this Wednesday morning, unleashing his club-ready heater ‘City Of Love’ out into the world.
Born out of COVID-induced downtime that we’ve become all too familiar with in the last year-and-a-half, the track sees the multi-talented muso strip away the larger than life sonics of The Presets in favour of minimal textures.
Naturally, the track follows the ‘Martini’ hitmaker through refined synth lines and skeletal drums, his gentle vocals resting upon them all with a storyteller-like quality to them. It’s almost as if you’re sitting around a campfire with him as he recounts an age-old greek tragedy, the night sky and its various galaxies acting as a third, omniscient listener.
It’s a pretty solid solo debut, and luckily enough for us, it seems we’re gonna be getting plenty more in the coming months, with Hamilton having several new offerings set to help ease us into the summer and away from the total ridiculousness of this past year.
