Don’t think the Fresh Prince had this in mind when he stormed the Oscars stage…

The fallout of Will Smith’s infamous slap of Chris Rock at the Oscars is continuing to make waves across Hollywood and the world as a whole, Smith’s career and recent ‘Best Actor’ win seemingly going into free fall as he faces criticism left, right and centre. Chris Rock, on the other hand, seems to be enjoying an unprecedented boost in popularity, in what’s a nice clap back at the fallen Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Aside from receiving widespread praise for his handling of the whole ordeal, the 57-year-old is now experiencing soaring ticket sales for his ‘Ego Death’ world tour, with ticket marketplace TickPick writing online, “We sold more tickets to see Chris Rock overnight than we did in the past month combined.”

To top things off, tickets for the comedians upcoming show in Boston have skyrocketed from a starting point of $46 USD to $341 USD, which, according to my very unreliable arithmetic skills, equates to a +600% increase. To be expected, other stops of his tour are similarly following suit, in what appears to be a full renewal of interest in the full-time funnyman.

It all begs the question, should the comedian be thanking Smith in a way? Probably not, but in the words of Stephen King, “Payback is a bitch, and the bitch is back.” Check out the Aussie dates for Rock’s upcoming shows below, along with the notorious slap (if you’re keen to relive it one more time).
