The releases come alongside the band’s upcoming album and national tour…

Brisbane rock band WAXX have today dropped two new tracks from their forthcoming album, debuting the songs ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Help Me Hell’ alongside the release of a double-feature music video for each. As WAXX’s first musical offering since 2021, first single ‘Dangerous’ carves a new musical direction for the four-piece, offering a shadowy piano ballad co-written by P!ink collaborator, Linda Perry.

Circling back to the band’s thrash rock roots, second track ‘Help Me Hell’ finds WAAX in their punkish sweet spot, with all the power chord storms that have characterised the band since their 2019 debut. The two singles alongside an extended music video, encompassing both songs and playing to the sonic contrast between each. In it, lead vocalist Marie DeVita assumes the stripped back tones of ‘Dangerous,’ before the fading outro makes way for an explosive performance of ‘Help Me Hell.’

Both tracks are taken from what will be WAAX’s brand-new album, At Least I’m Free, which is slated for an August 5 release and features credits from the likes of K.Flay and Powderfinger’s Bernard Fanning. Speaking of the release, DeVita says the juxtaposition of the singles represents the album more broadly. “Our album is one of duality and extremes, so we thought it would be best to give fans a taste of what’s to come.”

The announcement comes ahead of the band’s nation-wide Dangerous Tour, which will hit the road next week with performances in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia.
