A long list of high-profile musicians have fallen victim to a YouTube hacking overnight, with an anonymous shit-poster overrunning the accounts of Drake, Eminem, Justin Bieber and more. Posting various bizarre videos to profiles from Ariana Grande to Taylor Swift- whose subscriber count numbers in the hundreds of millions- the hack lasted some hours before the artists reclaimed their accounts.
While the videos ranged in peculiarity (Harry Styles’ upload was named ‘Speed Is The Best’), a throughline across the major accounts was the ‘Free Paco Sans’ title, reportedly in reference to a Spanish criminal who, in 2019, defrauded thousands of people by fabricating terminal illnesses. While the identity of the hacker remains unknown, one Twitter account has claimed responsibility for the incident, asking his followers who he “should hack now.”

The hack is the latest in a long list of previous high-profile social media takeovers. In 2020, Adam Sandler and Mariah Carey’s accounts were overrun, with the latter posting to her millions of followers that “Eminem’s penis is small.” And just last week, this writer was also approached by a *totally* genuine account offering large sums in exchange for being a sugar baby. Win!
I take a freaking nap and this happens?
