The sportswear giant resurrects one of Lee’s most memorable characters.

Academy Award winner Spike Lee has directed a new short film for Nike in honour of the sportswear company’s 50th anniversary. Titled Seen It All, the five-minute clip sees the resurrection of Mars Blackmon, the character and frequent Nike commercial star who Lee played in the 1986 film, She’s Gotta Have It.

Riffing with his co-star Indigo Hubbard-Salk, Lee reminisces on the landmark sports triumphs of the past five decades, interspersed with archive footage of Nike athletes Michael Jordan, Serena Williams and Tiger Woods. All up, Seen It All showcases the career-best highlights of more than 40 professional athletes, also name-dropping the likes of Naomi Osaka and Kobe Bryant.

On the footwear front, Lee dons a pair of classic Jordan 4s, while Hubbard-Salk wears the long-rumoured Off-White x Nike Air Force 1s. It’s the first time Nike has acknowledged the existence of the latter pair, which are expected to drop sometime this year. After debating the past and future of sport, the Seen It All stars ultimately agree on one thing; “it’s gotta be the shoes!”
