Renowned film studio A24 has released the second trailer for its upcoming dark comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies this morning, the hotly-anticipated film starring Pete Davidson set to be his second big screen appearance this year.
Centred around “a group of rich 20-somethings” partying at a remote family mansion, the film is your typical Gen Z comedy mixed with a murder mystery, thriller and stoner epic. It’s pretty much a melting pot of film genres, one that comes into full fruition at around the one minute mark into the trailer where the power cuts out following Amandla Stenberg’s Sophie explaining the rules of Bodies Bodies Bodies. From there, the game manifests into real life as the 20-somethings start stabbing each other in the back (both literally and metaphorically), friendships fall apart and jump scares run rampant as everyone strives to survive.
As for Davidson, it seems that he takes after his character David a fair bit, with the leading man seen to be cracking witty one-liners, smoking a bunch of weed and consequently being stoned for the majority of the trailer. Still, that doesn’t stop him from being accused of being the murderer at one point, to which he unconvincingly replies “That would be so obvious if I were the killer”.
Only time will tell however as to who is the slasher in question. Bodies Bodies Bodies is out on August 12. Check the full trailer below.
