Founded in Texas in 1922, Dickies began with a simple purpose of making durable workwear for American workers, which, given their modern-day entwinement with skate, music and fashion culture, is pretty impressive. It seems Dickies’ mission largely hasn’t evolved since those early days, more so that different segments of society have come to know and love the clothes they’ve produced; evidence of unfaltering quality in the product.
Last night, Atomic Fashion who have helped make Dickies what it is in Australia and New Zealand over the last 30 years, threw a massive birthday party, and we were there to capture it all…
Taking over Burleigh Bazaar, there were more activations than you could poke a disco stick at including a bucking bull, a custom embroidery station, artists Ellie Hopley, Bella Hunter, Luke Okay, and Darren Love creating and displaying unique hand-drawn Dickies apparel and airbrushing, Skating from Sam Atkins, Dennie Durrant and other Dickies team. And that was all warming up to the main event: a powerful performance from funk lord Big Twisty and breakdancers Chris Cielo & Team Cream.
