While deep in the midst of their North American tour, sibling duo Lime Cordiale are back with a new single this Tuesday, releasing their zesty new groove ‘Country Club’ along with the accompanying visuals.
Characterised by reggae guitar lines and punchy vocals by frontman Louis Leimbach, the tune sees the Lime boys double down on the infectious pop soundscape they crafted on 2020’s 14 Steps To A Better You but through a more fiery lens, matching the vividness of the surrounding instrumentation with ease.
The clip sees the two-piece making laps up and down the UK, taking to various postcard locations (along with one bonkers mansion) as they capture the overarching sense of poshness inherent to the ‘Country Club’ ethos. It seems the latter location is by design, with one half of Lime Cordiale Oli explaining, “The song is about the absurdity that comes with status and class so we thought, ‘where better to shoot it than a posh old manor?’”
Speaking on the social commentary of the new single, Oli adds, “’In ‘Country Club’, we imagine the downfall of a highly privileged character with no sense of the cushy world that surrounds them. A lot of us have got it good, yet some people are just so disconnected from the rest of society that if they aren’t careful, it will come back around and bite them in the butt.”
Definitely a welcome offering from the homegrown musos. Lime Cordiale’s new single ‘Country Club’ is out now. You can buy/stream it here.
