Having dropped his new album Palaces earlier this year and unveiling a stack of tour dates around the world, you’d think international export Flume would have next to no time for downtime. The ‘Say Nothing’ producer, however, is proof that balance is key, putting the tools down AKA hosting a Q&A session on Discord.
During the chat, however, one user asked about an old track of his, titled ‘Greenpeace’. Usually, most musos would give a brief backstory of the record and slyly tease a potential release date some time down the line. Flume did the opposite, however, sharing the download link for it during the Q&A and the world after.
Those familiar with ‘Greenpeace’ would be well aware it was sparingly featured (90 seconds in total) in a Greenpeace Australia Pacific campaign way back in 2017. The bop is eerily reminiscent of Flume’s early works like his self-titled debut (2012) and 2016’s Skin, a sonic time capsule to the producer’s earlier works when he was still rising through the ranks of the dance world.
To add the cherry on top, Flume has also released an additional song, titled ‘GET U STEP’. A much more laid-back cut, ‘GET U STEP’ is no doubt meant for those much more quiet parts of the night, and serves as a solid counterpart to ‘Greenpeace’. Whether or not more music will follow remains to be seen, especially considering the Hot 200 alum has a “full album’s worth of house music that’s just sitting there that I just need to finish off”. Still, these two recent offerings, as well as his 2022 album Palaces, are more than enough to tide us over until then. Check them out above (and below), and be sure to keep an eye out for any more offerings from the Aussie dance phenom.
