The nominations for this year’s ARIA Awards have been revealed, with RÜFÜS DU SOL, Amyl and The Sniffers and Flume leading the charge with six or more nominations each. The ceremony will take place at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on November 24, and will welcome just-announced co-hosts Natalie Imbruglia and Lewis Capaldi, who’ll also perform at the televised event.
RÜFÜS DU SOL scored seven nods —including for Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Release — for their 2022 record Surrender. Amyl and The Sniffers, meanwhile, were recognised for Best Group and likewise nominated for Album of the Year (for Comfort To Me), alongside similar nods for Baker Boy’s Gela, Gang of Youths’ Angel in Realtime and King Stingray’s self-titled LP.
Baker Boy also received a nomination for Best Solo Artist, where he joins the likes of Flume, Julia Jacklin, Ruel, The Kid Laroi and Vance Joy. Midnight Oil comprises the nominees list for Best Group alongside Amyl and The Sniffers, Gang of Youths, Rüfüs and King Stingray, the last of whom was also recognised in the Breakthrough Artist category.
King Stingray will compete for the newcomer award alongside the likes of Harvey Sutherland, Bella Taylor Smith, Luude and fellow band Beddy Rays. Elsewhere, some big name acts who also received a nomination include Amy Shark, Thelma Plum and the Wiggles for Best Live Act, and Spacey Jane for Best Rock Album.
The 2022 ARIA Awards will be broadcast live on the Nine Network, and will also be streamable via YouTube. Scroll down for this year’s list of nominees in the major ARIA categories.
