Calling all Frank Ocean/Blink-182 cross-over fans…

Following his much-discussed/critiqued/memed/loved Weekend 1 Coachella appearance, Frank Ocean has officially cancelled his scheduled follow-up headline performance in Weekend 2 due to an ankle injury.

“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity,” a representative for Ocean said in a statement on Wednesday.

“On doctor’s advice, Frank is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”

The injury reportedly came about from a bicycle accident on festival grounds in the lead-up to his Weekend 1 performance. As a result, Ocean had to reduce the production for his set (which allegedly included an entire ice skating rink with dozens of skaters including professional hockey skaters and Olympic figure skaters), opting to sit for a portion of the performance instead of doing an ice skating routine of his own as he had planned. He also chose not to live-stream the show.

“It was chaotic,” Frank Ocean described of his set in a statement of his own. “There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

Following the revelation he would not be appearing at the festival this weekend, it was revealed Ocean would be replaced by none other than Blink-182 (who also played a surprise set during Weekend 1), closing out the festival as the Sunday night headliner for Weekend 2.

As you can imagine, the internet had a lot to say.
