The new trailer for The Flash is out, and it’s safe to say that Batman steals the show once again. Michael Keaton’s version of the caped crusader is featured heavily throughout, so much so that you’d be forgiven for thinking the upcoming superhero epic was a sequel to 1992’s Batman Returns. But let’s be real, who wouldn’t want Keaton’s Batman front and centre in his return to the DCU (besides Flash star, Ezra Miller of course).
But fear not, The Flash is not just a Batman movie. Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen is the protagonist, and he’s got a multiversal time travelling problem on his hands. After attempting to change the past and save his late mother from an untimely death, he inadvertently alters the future, leaving him in a reality where General Zod is wreaking havoc and there are no superheroes to save the day. Oops.
To fix things, Barry enlists the help of Keaton’s retired Batman. Together, they try to save an imprisoned Kryptonian, but things are not as simple as they seem. Add the fact that Ben Affleck’s Batman enters the mix, along with a swathe of other ultra-powered heroes, and Miller’s Flash has got a cataclysmic battle Royale of meta-humans on his hands amongst his journey to fix the timeline.
Overall, the new trailer promises a much needed revival for the DC universe that’s full of action, humour, and time travel. And of course, Batman. So mark your calendars for June 15th and check out the full clip above.
