The term “The more the merrier” is one that’s overused way too much in modern day society. Sure, if you’re throwing an off the chain house party or need to fill up a party bus, it’s totally applicable. But, if you’re breaking up with that partner of two years or are visiting your GP for your annual physical, you definitely want as few people there as possible (or not, if you’re into that sort of thing). However, if you’re one of Australian rock’s biggest bands and are looking for a fellow staple of the music scene to join you on the road, well, you get the picture.
And so, two of Australia’s most beloved bands, Victoria’s Slowly Slowly and NSW’s Stand Atlantic, are now joining forces for a mammoth tour of the regions. It’s a welcome change for regional fans who get far too few visits from Aussie musos, a tradition the two bands are hoping to break, with Slowly Slowly’s Ben Stewart explaining, “We’ve always been treated kindly by our regional audiences—we’re thrilled to announce we’ll be dragging our empty hearts far & wide across regional Aus for a much-needed refill of sweat, singalongs and terrible dancing.”
Kicking off in Perth on September 1st, the tour will be stopping in at the likes of Torquay, Albury, Coffs Harbour and Newcastle, before wrapping up in early October at Gold Coast mainstay, the Coolangatta Hotel. Along with a mountain of music gear and good banter, the two bands will be bringing with them plenty of new music. Slowly Slowly will be armed with their latest album Daisy Chain, while Stand Atlantic will be playing out their 2022 record f.e.a.r. across the country.
It’s welcome news for both Slowly Slowly and Stand Atlantic fans across the regions, and will no doubt offer a rare chance to see them up close and personal like never before. Early bird presale go on sale 5pm today, with general sale available from 12pm this Friday. For now, check out the full list of dates for Slowly Slowly and Stand Atlantic’s regional tour below.
