Party & Bullshit

Swear I could play proper pro golf after this weekend…

The inaugural Splendour in the Grass for 2023 has come and gone, and we’re already wishing we were back in the Parklands. For three days Australia’s music scene came together for a weekend of live performances, mosh pits and enough crowd-singalongs to last a lifetime (‘Say It’ at Flume will always be a core memory).

Beginning with our Lifewithoutandy Where House party on Thursday night, we were primed (while being a tad dusty) and ready to go Friday morning, the first day of the festival featuring acts like Lizzo, Ocean Alley (and their Confidence baby), Loyle Carner and dozens more. In between copious amounts of golf at our LWA tent and running between stages, we were a bit wrecked by the end of the first night, but remained determined.

The festivities on day two were just as fun, with numerous artists both homegrown and international taking to the various Splendour stages. Highlights included Little Simz, Arlo Parks, Sam Fender, and of course, king Flume, who took us through his decade-plus discography in what was one of the most nostalgic festival sets we’ve ever witnessed.

Finally, day three rolled around quicker than we could say “Hole in one”, with the Byron festival pulling out all the big guns to cap off our Splendour experience. Featuring performances from Tove Lo, 100 Gets, festival closers Mumford and Sons and legions more, we saw a wealth of some of the world’s greatest artists, all the while walking enough steps to traverse the entire Aussie coastline.

But of course, LWA photographer Tommy Nortz (and the incredible Splendour in the Grass media team) were on the ground to capture all the action. Relive Splendour in the Grass 2023 via the gallery above:
