In what’s sure to be welcome news to musicians all across Sydney, the iconic Petersham Bowlo’s Battle of the Bands is coming back hard, announcing the 2023 edition of the competition.
Set to take place on September 2nd at the beloved Inner West watering hole, the festivities will feature some of the state’s best rock and pop outfits all under one roof as they battle out for the top spot. It’s the ultimate gathering for any live music lover who dreams of making the big time, and judging by previous winners like The Lazy Eyes and entrants Elliot Road, it seems like it’s a launch pad for local acts far and wide. .
In addition to the incredible prizes on offer for entrants (rehearsal time at Zen Studios and Sound works, recording, mixing and mastering at Golden Retriever Studios with Simon Berckleman, single distribution through Half A Cow records and Radio support from Sydney’s 2SER’S “The Band Next Door”), there is also a FREE ‘Music Biz 101’ symposium night that will be hosted by ex Triple J host Robbie Buck and feature Sydney music industry heavy weight panellists, musician Caitlin Harnett of Caitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys, Lulu Rae of Drain Brain PR, Brian Taranto of Love Police and Reg Harris, music program manager of the first ever SXSW down under.
So whether you’re a lifelong adherent of the music world or are still finding your feet, there’s a little something for everyone to take away from Petersham Bowling Clubs 2023 Battle of the Bands.
