Don’t cross LL.

When listening to Lady Lyon’s new music, having seen her live a handful of times, the first thing that always comes to mind is, “fuck, I can’t wait to see this on stage.” But after watching her clip for ‘Friends In Hell’, which we have the pleasure of premiering today, I’m equally keen to hang out with her and her crew as I am to see the tune performed at maximum volume. Bring on the beers and pool and occasional boogaloo, I say.

The track, which was released a little while back is a rambunctious alt-country jam which puts Hayley Lyon’s (that’s her name) spicy lyrics front and centre. It’s about a friendship that’s gone a little rotten and spoiled, and sticking to your guns when you’re second-guessing yourself:

“‘Friends In Hell’ is a song about friendship, change and knowing the worth of what you believe in.” Hayley explains. “It’s one of those magical three chord songs that just spilled out of me. One minute I was noodling away and the next thing I blacked out and had written three minutes of pure, unfiltered creative flow, which is the absolute dream”

Filmed by Reece Grogan of Yeah Rad, the video is shot on Super 8 and follows Hayley and the familiar faces of the Inner West strum circles. Sinking tins while wandering around town listening to Lady Lyon is not a bad pitch to wrangle a few extras for your music video, right? Check out LL’s even newer song below and be sure to dip into her Friends In Hell EP when it drops in September!
