In what’s sure to be welcome news to any OG raver, Subsonic has announced its long-awaited return this December for free days of music, dancing and basically everything else you do when you’ve got a wild lineup and endless bush. The news comes after a series of postponements, most notably due to the 2019 bushfires and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic, but, as is typical of the Subsonic spirit, they’re back better than ever.
Taking place at its long-running home of Barrington Tops, the festival will be host to a globe-spanning bill of dance, hip hop and more across the three days. Headlined by Perth indie-dance trio, Crooked Colours, alongside Malyangapa/Barkindji rapper BARKAA, British singer/songwriter Youngr and more, Subsonic will literally have something for everyone when it kicks off on December 8th.
Other notable inclusions on the lineup include Andy Garvey, international export Litmus, Sydney legend Barney Kato, Flexy Ferg, Fukhed, Mincy and countless more, in what’ll be a total win for both Sydney’s dance scene and that of the nation as a whole. And add the fact that we’ll be surrounded by the literal picturesque surrounds of Riverwood Downs, the 2023 edition of Subsonic really is primed to be one of the biggest festivals this Summer.
