YouTube star turned UK indie rock heartthrob, Cavetown (real name Robin Skinner), is finally heading Down Under for a run of Aussie shows next year. Slated to take place in the latter half of February, the 24-year-old ‘Juliet’ singer is set to play some of Australia’s biggest rooms for his debut tour, with venues such as Sydney’s UNSW Roundhouse, Melbourne’s The Forum and Brissy’s Fortitude Music Hall.
Having burst onto the global stage with his major-label debut Sleepyhead in 2020, the British mainstay has quickly become synonymous with the confessional brand of indie rock and pop championed by the likes of Clairo, Rex Orange County and more in the late 2010s. As a result, he’s cemented himself as one of the genre’s leading voices, as evidenced by standout sets at the likes of EU festivals such as Primavera Sound, Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, Montreux Jazz Festival and more this past summer in support of his 2022 album, worm food.
And in what’s an exciting addition to his upcoming tour, Skinner will be bringing a full band with him, despite the solo nature of his writing process. It’s set to enhance the run of shows tenfold, with Skinner himself explaining, “It was fun to imagine how something might come to life onstage, and to think about how I might interact with the audience at different moments.”
This is definitely a tour you won’t want to miss out on. Presale tickets to Cavetown’s upcoming Aussie tour go on sale from 9am tomorrow, with general sale available from 9am on Thursday. For now, check out the full list of dates for Cavetown’s shows Down Under below.
