Parcels once again serve up melancholic music you can dance to.

‘Thefear’ follows on from ‘Reflex’, both of which were recorded at Paris’ LePalace in a secret show and is further evidence that the Byron-bred, Europe-based five-piece are delving deep in to the club scene of their adopted home.
And thank god really, I don’t know if ears could handle a five-and-a-half minute Xavier Rudd-style, woodcore version of this track.

The tune is driven by an unrelenting hi-hat, with swirly synths and ethereal vocals giving it a lovely euphoric feeling – a far cry from their self-titled debut and much-acclaimed follow-up Day/Night. Recorded live at the Paris venue, it’s surely going to have musicians around the world scratching their heads wondering how such a musically tight band exists outside of a session space.

“‘Thefear’ is a deep cut from our new live club album. It’s heavy and anxious, the way things can sometimes turn when you get lost in the club. Over an hour down the rabbit hole, this was a moment when the party went inward,” singer Patrick Hetherington of the band explains. The visuals reflect that notion, with blurry camerawork reminiscent of late 80s dance music videos:

‘Thefear’ and ‘Reflex’ are both taken from Live Vol. 2 which consists of twelve tracks, all recorded live by the band during the show last year. It includes five never-before-heard songs…. Heavy!
