And in accordance with the previous sold out shows they’ve played at the Sydney mainstay, it was off the hinge. Backed by local outfit La Shiv and the funkadelic Winston Surfshirt, the hometown crowd was treated to some of the finest in Aussie rock and funk by the time the six-piece stepped on stage.
Playing an assortment of hits from their decade-spanning discography, the boys from the beaches catered to day one fans and newcomers alike, rattling off newer cuts like ‘Touch Back Down’ to older records like ‘Happy Sad’ and ‘Tombstone’. A special moment came when they threw it back to 2013 (where did all the time go?!) as they rattled off renditions of the iconic ‘Yellow Mellow’ and ‘Paradise A’Burn’ (an all-time favourite).
Of course, their chart-topping Like A Version of ‘Baby Come Back’ got a rinsing at the end as well, and unsurprisingly, it prompted a Hordern-wide singalong that rivalled that of their explosive Splendour amphitheater set from earlier this year.
