The perfect blend of two of our favourite homegrown artists.

This new track made its debut at a sold-out Enmore theatre last October, where Ruel surprised fans by joining DMA’S on stage for a heartfelt acoustic rendition of this unreleased alt-pop ballad. Originally crafted during writing sessions for Ruel’s debut album 4TH WALL, the song was resurrected for this special performance, fueled by the overwhelming love from the crowd and online supporters, inspiring the duo to bring it to fruition.

Reflecting on the creative process, Ruel shares, “I had a blast writing this track with the boys a couple of years ago. We all immediately clicked in the studio, and the song just wrote itself. I love how this song is a perfect meld of our two sounds, you can hear just as much of DMA’S as Ruel in my opinion.”

DMA’S member Matt Mason adds, “We wrote Diamonds the first week we got in the studio with Ruel, with a verse Tooky had been sitting on for years. We changed the key to fit Ruel’s voice and the rest of the song crystallised into this beautiful demo that’s ended up here… we hope you like it.”

Both “What A Life” and “We’re A Pair Of Diamonds” capture the magic of spontaneous collaboration between Ruel and DMA’S, blending their signature sounds seamlessly. “We’re A Pair Of Diamonds” is a powerful duet, weaving intimate lyrics with anthemic melodies, painting a picture of love lost before its time to shine.
