I caught Double Talk live late last year at Young Henrys’ birthday bash in Newtown, and the trio were like a spikey ball of cosmic energy. Dancing on stage, shredding on their respective tools, and inviting the crowd on board their magical musical party bus – it was a pretty special performance. So naturally, it’s exciting news when they drop a new track with that show still fresh in mind.
‘Swimming’ sounds like if David Byrne was the musical guest on Mighty Boosh. Spacey guitar lines, funky beats and groovy vocals combine in sonic splendour; the track feels like it would go down best on a makeshift kitchen dance floor, after a couple of glasses of wine and with a joint in hand… if you’re into that kind of thing.

It comes with three other important tidbits from the group: firstly, they’ve changed their name from Greatest Hits as (what probably seems painfully obvious in hindsight) it’s a Google nightmare, AND they’ve also announced they’re heading back to Europe, with support slots for Plàsi just announced (dates below). You don’t want to miss Double Talk live – make sure you head here to get a ticket if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, and, if you ain’t, follow them for Aus tour news.
Oh, and most importantly, they have a debut album Lips & Bloops coming in September. Stay toooned.
