Skegss’ new album Pacific Highway Music will be released Friday October 18th.

It’s always a good day when our favourite scuzzy surf rockers Skegss drop a new tune. And today’s new tune keeps their track record of releasing dreamy indie with the odd splash of grit that gets caught up on your head for days perfectly in tact. It also furthers my theory that frontman Benny Reed has one of the most underrated voices in Aus…

‘Out Of My Head’ not so much about getting wasted, but more about giving yourself a break and letting go of those thoughts that creep into our heads telling us we’re not doing life right. “Don’t get caught up on how someone makes you feel for too long in a negative way, pretend you get to restart life again and go do the things that make you thrive,” Reed says of the track. “We all say and do dumb things no matter how wise someone seems. So don’t get too hung up on your mistakes if you recognise them.”

It comes with the news that the band’s third album Pacific Highway Music is coming on October 18th (you can pre-order it here), and we can only imagine we’ll be hearing a lot more about as the group look to out #1 on the ARIA chart as their sophomore record Rehearsal did.

“I’ve spent a lot of my life driving on the Pacific Highway, and most of the time it puts me in a bit of hypnotic state,” says Reed of the record. “With this album I tried to be as honest as possible, but I also wanted to create the kind of songs that give you that same feeling—songs where you can shut your eyes, let your imagination take over, and drift off into another world that exists only in your mind.”
