Is Newy at the forefront of house-y electronic music in Australia? If you look at the calibre of talent that has emerged from the Steel City recently such as Mallgrab, Loods, and Claire O’Brien, you’ve got yourself some pretty firm evidence that Newy is cooking right now.
Soul Wun is another name to add to the list of Novocastrian artists to watch. Having dropped a string of singles and a couple of EPs over the past six years, he’s recently given us ‘Fight Or Flight’; the first taste of his debut record Blue Light.
Now we have ‘Slipping’, a dreamy collection of vocals, keys, and synths sprayed over a beautifully stuttery beat. It’s a real hypnotic listen, elevated with collaborators Benji (James Benjamin) on violin and Mauricesax on alto sax, which gives the track this moody, jazzy feel.
