Tyler links up with Ayo Edebiri of The Bear fame for the first taste from his forthcoming Chromakopia LP.

Is Tyler, The Creator paranoid? If ‘NOID’ is anything to go by, yes. Yes he is. Once again, taking the reigns visually – director credit is Tyler Okonma, as opposed to his previous pseudonym Wolf Haley – he tells a surreal story of a masked celebrity being hounded by people and his own mind. He can’t even trust his own shadow as revealed when the video hits the two minute mark and we move into colour.

Ayo Edebiri delivers some crazy girl energy that’s so intense and different from her level-headed portrayal of Sydney in The Bear, you could be forgiven for not recognising her at all, as *ahem* some music journalists may have, on first watch.

The track samples a track by Zambian musician, Paul Ngozi and incorporates a near guitar line that sounds like it the cousin of Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’. These elements combine with warbly synths and lofty vocal harmonies to give the track that modern-vintage feel that has become synonymous with Tyler.

Chromakopia drops this Friday, Oct. 28th. Tyler announced the album a few days ago, revealing the title and release date last week, along with a teaser video and a snippet of new music called ‘St. Chroma’.
