NZ’s finest indie-rockers are touching down in Aus next week!

Well, have we got a doozy for you today. Our Kiwi pals, purveyors of sometimes-dreamy, sometimes-heavy, always-catchy indie, Daily J, have just dropped their second full-length Scatterbrains.

The album, which has already gifted us ‘Sunday Stitches’, ‘Cheap Tequila Sunrise’, ‘Tastes Like Forever’, and ‘Happy Slides’, sees the band—in their own words—“reflect that contrast, with songs that range from happy to sad, inquisitive to outright mad. It’s a rollercoaster of feeling, and we hope it resonates with our listeners in a real and relatable way.”

This is another way of saying that it’s really thinking-person’s pop music. Which is another way of saying it rewards repeat listens while also delivering no shortage of melodies that grab you instantly. ‘For Your Leisure’ captures this shift perfectly, with pulsing verses that build into an irresistible, uplifting chorus. As the band puts it, the song is about “finding light in the chaos”—a sentiment that runs through the entire album.

To celebrate, the band will be touring Aus, kicking off in Wollongong on Feb 26. They’ll tear through Newcastle, Sydney, Fremantle, Adelaide, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Torquay, with a couple of Labour Day Eve parties along the way. Date below:
