You know you’ve been listening to Velvet Trip’s AKA Zeppelin Hamilton’s shiniest new tune, ‘Calling Out Your Name’. The psych-boogie has rightly been getting an absolute rinsing on triple j and streaming playlists since it dropped a couple of weeks back, with ears around the country copping a dose of VT’s tripped-out melodic bliss and pulsing grooves.
Naturally, to accompany such a glorious tune—which is the second single from the upcoming five-track Glimmers EP—you need some visuals to capture the song’s essence. Which brings us to today’s premiere: the official clip, directed by Claire Salter and shot in Newcastle’s industrial area.
“I’m so stoked to have had the opportunity to work with Claire Salter on this music video,” Hamilton says. “We’ve collaborated many times over the years, and every time it’s always so much fun. She loves to push me to perform outside my comfort zone. This time it was wearing a sparkly sheer singlet and high-waisted purple pants, singing in the industrial areas of Newcastle while getting honked at by gobsmacked truck drivers who had never seen such a sight.”
Perhaps signifying the unrelenting rise of Velvet Trip over the past couple of years, the clip sees Hamilton unleashing all his star power, delivering an out-of-this-world performance—the results are astronomical. Probably best for you to watch it for yourself below, as this article has now reached the limit of star-related puns allowed in a single editorial:
