The fifth studio album from Angus Stone AKA Dope Lemon, and it’s a trip. If Kimosabè was a road trip under a UFO sky, Golden Wolf is what happens when you ditch the map, kick up dust, and let the mirage take the wheel. “I’m doped-out, self-medicated…” he sings on the album opener ‘John Belushi’ — you get the vibe.
From the silky cool of ‘Electric Green Lambo’ to the heat-haze dream of ‘She’s All Time’ (with assist from Nina Nesbitt), the record walks the line between loungey and lawless. ‘Sugarcat’ is a hazy disco number kinda reminiscent of The Growlers’ City Club energy, while ‘Dust Of A Thousand Stars’ feels like Brian Jonestown Massacre’s polished brother.
The ‘She’s All Time’ visualiser gives you a pretty solid preview of where the album resides: cokey, smokey, and colourful.

After clocking over 700 million streams, smashing vinyl charts, and supporting Post Malone on tour, the rise of Stone as Australia’s premier purveyor of washed-out earworms is undeniable. Now he’s headed out for a national run of headline shows this July and August, with stops across Aus and NZ.
Do yourself a favour: press play on Golden Wolf and let it all melt away.
