What do you wanna be when you grow up?

It’s a pretty big question for a four-year-old to answer. In fact, it’s a pretty big question for an adult. It’s certainly one that’s been on the mind of The Pitts’ James Drinkwater for a number of years, and now, after a couple of decades marinating in his mind, he’s turned that age-old question into a ripping pub-rock anthem, ‘Dreamer’.

“I knew since I was a boy that a conventional life was not for me. I’d spend all my time in class drawing and dreaming of paintings I hadn’t made yet,” says Drinkwater. “Putting this song together years later it is some how more resonate and powerful. Although playful and push back it’s loaded with social commentary.”

The song is every bit as catchy as the Newy band’s previous three releases, with Drinkwater’s gravelly vocals in conversation with (and occasionally fighting against) thumping drums and crunchy guitars. And a chorus that is gonna stick around in your noodle for days to come — maybe years.

Go ahead and give it a rinsing, and follow The Pitts on Instagram here – we have a feeling that this is the first release of a larger body of work… or at least that’s what we’re hoping.
