Party & Bullshit

Last night Ksubi and Kinah brought artists, musicians and creatives together under one bumping roof.

Given its global reputation for before-the-trend denim, which you’re just as likely to see adorning your favourite rapper as your favourite rocker, it’s easy to forget that Ksubi began life as Tsubi just before the turn of the century. During that period, they started the Tsubi Skull Club – a series of parties hosted by the founders in their Northern Beaches garage, where they played live DJ sets and screen-printed tees. It’s that energy they tapped into for last night’s Kinah link-up, KSQUARED.

Taking over Cool Studio in Collingwood, the event celebrated Melbourne’s creative community, bringing together artists, DJs, musicians and tastemakers from across the city. Co-hosted by Ksubi and Kinah, it paid homage to the original Skull Club while introducing that spirit to a new generation.

Guests including Cult Shotta, Ella Christo, Helena Delgado, Harvey Petito, Moe Al-Hassan, Morgan Waterhouse, JVP and Mia Takarabe arrived decked out in Ksubi, while a custom tee station created in collaboration with Melbourne artist Blinkerfluid gave the first 50 through the door the chance to walk away with a one-off piece.

Fuelled by Jose Cuervo cocktails and an all-local lineup featuring Inbraza Soundsystem, Tendai, Chichi, Negassa and Karani, the room was vibrating from doors till close. Check out the highlights in the gallery above:
