Ever watch a vampire movie and think, “Fuck, it would be good if these vamps could get some waves”? Us neither, TBH. But we are bloody stoked that the two genres have just crossed over for one of the most audacious surf films ever made.

If there’s one thing we know about Jaleesa Vincent and Luka Raubenheimer, it’s that the duo are always cooking up something left-of-centre. Whether it be the Wes Anderson-meets-Steve Irwin Snakes and Surf Breaks or the tap-dancing garage doo-woppery of Jaleesa’s band Cupid & The Stupids, they seem to see things from a different angle… even the afterlife.

Their latest endeavour is Vampires Surf, a surf movie presented by Sun Bum that sees Jaleesa, Caity Simmers and Frankie Harrer playing three blood-sucking vamps who leave the shadows and become legends of the mortal world. Along the way to fame, the trio bring their otherworldly talents to waves around the world, with some Kobe Hughes ripping thrown in for good measure.

It’s spooky and funny, with a few tear-jerking moments thrown in as we watch the trio dominate the water and the darkness, all captured through Luka and Jaleesa’s entrancing lens. And, having had a very sneaky peek at the film, we can also confirm that there’s a vampire rap smack bang in the middle that goes HARD. But is life outside of the shadows all it’s cracked up to be for our heroes (or villains, depending on how you look at it)?

To answer that question, you’ll have to get yourself to one of the screenings of Vampires Surf, presented by Sun Bum, happening all over the world, kicking off with a massive one in Noosa on the spookiest night of them all: Halloween.

Check out the dates below and head here to grab tickets ASAP. We’ll see you there, and don’t forget to get dressed up in your vampiest attire!
