When we heard Cara Delevingne had dropped her modelling agency we were more devastated than a 12-year-old girl upon learning Zayn had left One D. But then we discovered she was focusing her talents on acting, and we breathed a collective sigh of relief in the LWA offices before quickly turning our attention to her upcoming debut on the big screen, Paper Towns.

But CD is no Robinson Crusoe here. Many models have turned their hand to acting over the years with varying success. It just seems there are more and more chancing their hand in recent years. The Victoria’s Secret angel glamour made the biggest splash to the big screen in recent years with her acting debut in Transformers: Dark Moon. But if we’re being totally honest, she’s a better model than actress – evidenced by the fact she’s had just one role since. And that was with limited lines in Mad Max: Fury Road. But we love her all the same. How could you not?

Kate Upton – The Other Woman

Boobs! We don’t expect Kate to land the kind of roles Cara has attempted in her first outing but any excuse to see her in a white bikini is fine by us. Actions speak more than words anyhow, right?

Brooklyn Decker – Just Go With It

Her role in this Adam Sandler film – one of his best by current standards – is almost identical to the one played by Upton in The Other Woman – babe, boobs, bikini. Brooklyn did it first of course and she’s also stayed the course, featuring in NBC sitcom Friends with Better Lives among other projects.

Rebecca Romijn – X-Men

That blue body paint as Mystique in not one but three X-Men films… Most of the girls above were still being breastfed when Romign ruled the fashion world. And she set the standard for every model to follow after her who dared try their hand at acting. And at 42, she’s still a babe and has more than 40 acting credits to her name. The most successful by far to make the transition.
