10. DISCLOSURE – MAGNETS FT. LORDE

‘Magnets’ marked one of Disclosure’s biggest collaborations from their sophomore album Settle, recruiting Lorde for a sultry pop jam and a typically irresistible hook from the UK house duo. Having just visited Australia over the new year, we already can’t wait for them to come back.

9. THE WEEKND – CAN’T FEEL MY FACE

This is the most commercial route that The Weeknd has ever taken – a powerfully groovy diversion from his ominous, hyper-sexual brand of R&B. A slick execution from production master Max Martin means that this won’t be leaving club dancefloors for the foreseeable future.

8. HERMITUDE – THE BUZZ FT. MATAYA & YOUNG TAPZ

‘The Buzz’ became one of last year’s most favoured festival anthems – a powerful display of the Elefant Traks act’s ability to craft catchy electronica with a hearty, hip-hop flavoured bounce. Their album Dark Night Sweet Light is best played loud – and sounds even better in their admirable live show.

7. JARRYD JAMES – DO YOU REMEMBER

Brisbane singer Jarryd James certainly made an impact with his debut single ‘Do You Remember’ – a slow-burner which reached Number. 2 on the ARIA charts, while it also won him an ARIA Award for ‘Best Pop Release’ at the ARIA Awards.

6. CHET FAKER & MARCUS MARR – THE TROUBLE WITH US

A fresh track from Melbourne crooner Chet Faker & UK disco don Marcus Marr, ‘The Trouble With Us’ is an upbeat number that spearheaded a collaborative EP between the two parties. A pleasant surprise from Chet Faker which sees him take his longstanding dance influences to funkier territory.

5. TAME IMPALA – LET IT HAPPEN

Perth crew Tame Impala have long been one of the country’s most critically-acclaimed outfits – and ‘Let It Happen’ displayed all their dreamy pop sensibilities in nonchalant fashion. Their album Currents ranked as one of 2015’s best, culminating in a national tour that included a stunning effort at the Sydney Opera House forecourt.

4. TAME IMPALA – THE LESS I KNOW THE BETTER

Two strong Top Five showings from Tame Impala confirm their place as contemporary Australian rock heroes.

3. MAJOR LAZER & DJ SNAKE – LEAN ON FT. MO

An undeniable summer jam with zesty Caribbean influence, ‘Lean On’ became Spotify’s most streamed song of all time in 2015, and is also omnipresent at clubs across Australia – sometimes with Ty Dolla Sign’s hazy remix. The super-group toured Australia this year as part of Stereosonic, and were live as ever.

2. KENDRICK LAMAR – KING KUNTA

Compton emcee Kendrick Lamar earned worldwide praise for his adventurous album To Pimp A Butterfly, and he’ll be supporting the album with another Australian tour in March – and we can’t wait to hear ‘King Kunta’ in all of its live glory.
