The video was directed by New Zealand-based ‘concept specialist’ Marcus Hofko, and was shot up in the UK. We’re told that the clip “is a surrealist visualisation of the haunting effect a broken relationship can leave behind. Littered with rotting apples and still life imagery.” The video starts with an unidentified man waking up suddenly on a couch, with his eyes widening as if he was realising something real important. This is followed by three minutes of what appears to be a bad acid-trip, full of moving objects, two creepy hands, and one ugly orange sweater.
This is a bit of a visual change from the dimmer tones of their former videos; including the post-apocalyptic ‘You Are The One’ and ‘Make Them Wheels Roll’. The track behind the new video has also staked it’s claim, at one point taking the title as the most played track on Triple J and currently sits with well over one million Spotify streams.
The upcoming album Internal is slated to be released on September 9th, with a tour to be kicked off soon after on September 23rd. It has also just been revealed that SAFIA will be joined by house duo Set Mo as well as breakout producer, Running Touch. The tour is kicking off in the band’s hometown of Canberra before trekking nation-wide, and you can find tickets right here. Watch ‘Over You’ below, where you can also find national tour dates:
