While long-haired headbangers will surely mourn their favourite bands being sold to the masses, there’s no doubt that streetwear’s latest infatuation with metal is striking a chord with teens looking to be edgier than the next – to the point where even Justin Bieber’s merchandise is taking heavy cues from riff masters of the 80s and 90s. Having previously collaborated with Black Sabbath, Supreme have now previewed their next collaboration – and this time they’ve linked with thrash metal gods Slayer.
Known for some of the most haunting guitar solos in history and their relentless demonic imagery, Slayer have been named in a freshly uploaded video from Supreme on Instagram. The video features vocalist Tom Araya onstage in Supreme’s coveted box logo, while grainy live footage shows the circle pits and crowd surfing from their notoriously chaotic live shows.
Twitter has leaked some of the upcoming product – see what we know about the Slayer x Supreme jam below. If you wear one of these shirts, prepare to be interrogated by some crusty guy with long hair and face tattoos about your favourite Slayer song on Reign In Blood:
