Okay, so this isn’t exactly in Sydney – but the short trip up to Newcastle will be worth it for the inaugural ‘Countdown To FOMO’ parties that are hitting NSW over the next week. Designed to get you warmed up for the real FOMO festival arriving in January, this gig will see headliners Slumberjack & Feki – some of the most exciting acts in Australian electronica – teaming up with Newcastle staples including Elefant Traks’ own JayTeeHazard.
For the past six years, Freshly Squeezed has been celebrating local talents from the hip-hop and bass realms, and they’ll be saying goodbye to 2016 in style with an end of year party. Ribongia will be on headline duties alongside emerging emcees like Cult Shotta – make sure you suss their new single ‘Planned Out‘ – as well as Steady Bills, Meare and more. Head down tonight to Hudson Ballroom for the action, and read a little more about the Freshly Squeezed mantra in our article with the lads right here.
Mansionair will be kicking off their ‘Easier’ run of shows right here in Sydney, tonight at Oxford Art Factory – not bad considering that the trio only began in 2014. Their debut single ‘Hold Me Down’ amassed major label numbers, scoring over 10 million views on YouTube and sending it straight to #1 on HypeMachine, and yes – the hype is extremely real. See what all the fuss is about when Mansionair link up with PLGRMS for the show.
A question that has plagued mankind since the dawn of time: Beyonce or Rihanna? Both are R&B queens who have managed to build extremely influential solo careers and subsequent empires, but this party at Hudson Ballroom will have you dancing to cast your vote – because for every ‘Single Ladies’ and ‘Halo’ there’s an equally excellent ‘Man Down’ or ‘Umbrella’. Their respective partners – Jay Z and Drake – will also be thrown into the mix.
After last week’s gig was marred in controversy at some rowdy behaviour by punters, Hot Dub Time Machine returns to Enmore Theatre – let’s hope that everyone can be a little more well behaved and party responsibly. The festival favourite will be bringing hits from all eras of music and we’re betting on a nice time for all.
