Musica Copa will once again see some of Australia’s music heavyweights step onto the green, with friendly five-on-five football matches in the name of charity.
In what’s become an annual Friday afternoon tradition, the Musica Copa competition is taking over Fraser Park in Marrickville with the likes of What So Not, Nina Las Vegas, Motorik, Peking Duk putting on their favourite football kits and displaying some Harry Kewell-esque skills. Teams represented this year include FBi Radio, Sweat It Out, MTV Australia and Ministry of Sound – and you can watch all the action (plus DJs) for just $10 entry. All of this money will be going to I-Manifest, an organisation that helps youths pursue careers in the creative industries.
Another team that will be competing on the day is Sydney-based label Future Classic. The long-time electronic tastemakers have currently got their hands full with Flume’s stadium tour, but will be working their feet on the football field tomorrow arvo against some fierce competition. Ahead of the action, Future Class have crafted a playlist of their favourite game day tunes that will surely lead them to unanimous victory.
