Ocean will be performing at Primavera in Barcelona and NorthSide Festival in Denmark, before heading over for a UK exclusive when he headlines Lovebox at Victoria Park on July 14. These announcements mark Ocean’s first confirmed live performances since July 2014 – and while it’s been an arduous wait for Ocean to step into the recording studio and onstage, we’re hoping that it’ll be worth it.
Moreover, Ocean’s festival appearances have us praying that he just might return here for Splendour In The Grass. Some of you might remember that Live Nation toured Frank Ocean in Australia back in July 2013 – which included a Splendour In The Grass appearance that was cancelled due to injury. He was subsequently replaced by Lorde in a hallmark moment for her career.
With this morning’s news that Live Nation has acquired Splendour In The Grass, and the festival’s late July dates lying in close proximity to Lovebox, could he make it Down Under to relieve the tears that have been flowing since 2013’s cancellation? Furthermore, Lovebox is run by Mama Festivals, the group which Live Nation also acquired in 2015. Are the stars aligning, or are we just being too hopeful?
We’ll have to wait and see, but we’re sure that Australia would welcome Frank Ocean with both arms if it were to happen:
