Last week, Splendour announced 50 gold passes to the 2017 event going up for auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to help those in affected areas. “It has been heartbreaking to see the flood damage on such a huge scale and also to hear so many stories of loss. We hope that this fundraising initiative will provide assistance to those who need it most,” producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said.
Running from last Tuesday to Friday, the auction drew bidders from all over Australia, and even Mauritius. With the bidding now over, it has been revealed that Splendour has raised $69,067.25 which will be distributed to the Tweed Mayor Appeal Fund, Lismore City Council Flood Appeal and the Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre Inc. in the Byron Shire.
While those 50 gold passes will get punters some premium viewing to see The XX, Queens Of The Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, Stormzy and more, there’s still a chance for punters who haven’t secured their tickets to the Byron Bay event in July. The ticket resale facility opened yesterday, which allows punters to sell and buy their tickets in a safe and carefree online transaction.
You can enter the facility here – good luck, and see you in July.
