Sad Face: Jay Z Isn’t Headlining Bluesfest 2018 After All
But hopefully we see HOV soon.

Last month, rumours of Jay Z headlining Bluesfest 2018 were rife after organiser Peter Noble sent an email to subscribers saying that he had locked in one headliner.

“He is a beauty and it will be an absolute pleasure to bring him to Bluesfest. That only leaves around 99 artists to go,” Noble wrote, with many taking his use of the term ’99 artists’ as a reference to HOV’s mega-hit ’99 Problems.’ Furthermore, with fellow NYC legend Nas and rap heavyweight Kendrick Lamar headlining the festival in recent years, and the perfectly-timed hype around his 4:44 album, many believed that Jigga really would heading back Down Under.

However, all good things must come to an end, and Noble has shut down the rumours in another message to subscribers. “I’m not sure what the big rumour about JAY-Z playing Bluesfest was about. He is a great artist, and we love him… but that’s as far as it goes,” he wrote.

But it’s not all bad news, with Nobles also saying that the 2018 lineup is “coming together nicely, with some wonderful artists making the right noises about playing” and that they’ll be “confirming more artists this week.”

If you wanna hear HOV, then you better polish up that Tidal subscription – it doesn’t look like he’ll be here for Bluesfest. Sad face.
