A seamless day of adventure, besides the guy next to me who dropped his phone in the urinal. Peking Duk had their star-studded set introduced by Dale from The Castle, before cameos that ranged from rock-infused riffs with SAFIA to R&B flavoured jams with AlunaGeorge. Ivan Ooze rapped over a Eve/Gwen Stefani track, while the Canberra lads also dropped ‘Killing In The Name Of’ by Rage Against The Machine. Huge vibe, pogo moshing aplenty. 10 extra points for the white Kappa tracksuits.
Lil Yachty’s seems like a long string of ad-libs over pop-infused trap production. With his turquoise jumper, red pants and bouncing onstage presence, it’s hard not to get sucked into his fun approach to performance as he tore through sections of his signature singles like ‘1 Take,’ ‘Peek A Boo’ and ‘Minnesota.’ Back over at the Ampitheatre, the HAIM sisters delivered slick pop goodness, with the numerous highlights from Days Are Gone resulting in mass, feel-good sing-a-longs.
To finish it all off, RL Grime took over the Mix Up Stage and it was large, very large. ‘Core’ still goes as hard as it did when it dropped in 2014, while ethereal remixes of Rae Sremmurd’s ‘Black Beatles’ and French Montana’s ‘Unforgettable’ also went down a treat. See the images here, and stay tuned for two more days of adventure:
