“I love capturing special moments.”

Sun, surf and wide-open pastures make up our inaugural edition of Clips, brought to you by Georde Grigor.

Known by his mates as Grigs, Georde Grigor has been making videos since he was 17 years-old. Now at just 21, the Tintenbar local has accomplished a lot in the span of his relatively short career- which makes sense for a videographer whose first job was for one of Australia’s biggest brands.

“My first proper video gig was probably filming a couple videos for Billabong of Jai Glindeman. I still feel as though I’m new to the game and have so much to learn,” Grigs says.

Grigs’ first client and surfing subject, who he admits is his favourite person to shoot, is a fitting encapsulation of his broader work. Whether it’s focussed on cross-stepping surfers or a skater meandering the city streets, Grigs’ videos feel like a slice of summer perfection. Add-in the guitar licks of a soundtrack by Dirty Beaches and you’ve got a nostalgia trip for the ages.

“I like filming tight and capturing all the subtleties of the object…I love incorporating all different formats to a clip- film, water, land…I like to make it not one dimensional,” he says.

It’s this layered approach that allows Grigs to collect diverse images with finesse, from a beachside campfire to a meadow of human-sized sunflowers, and it’s what’s seen him work with everyone from Afends to STAB Magazine.

“I set myself some goals at the start of the year, like filming stuff for STAB and other big companies, [which] I have ticked off, so that was exciting,” Grigs says.

A videographer who says he likes to “try to make something nice for the viewers to indulge in,” we can’t think of anyone better to premiere our first-ever Clips segment. Catch Grigs’ full reel below, and head here to find him on Instagram.
