There’s no sand in Surry Hills.

Trust us, when we were lost in the city suburb that is Surry Hills, looking for Beach Brains’ Beach Club, we thought there’d at least be a trail of sand, some seagulls, or something. But upon walking into Above The Clouds, we realised Beach Brains had captured only the best elements of a beach party for their Sydney event.

With drinks from Kirin Hyoketsu, Heineken, and Almighty, we wandered into the club (pronounced da clurb), bumping into Sydney’s finest and copping a look at the latest scintillating offerings from Beach Brains. Gummy Johnston also tattooed an artwork onto a leather jacket that was up for grabs in a raffle, with all proceeds going to the mental health not-for-profit In Pieces.
