The chance to see the much anticipated BlacKkKlansman from visionary filmmaker Spike Lee was simply too good to miss for lucky ticket holders last night. The film, which follows the true story of African American cop Ron Stallworth who infiltrated the KKK, has attracted a lot of buzz after it’s successful debut at Cannes Film Festival and sold out screenings at the Sydney Film Festival – and now we can confirm the hype.
Heading downstairs we swapped screens for snacks and drinks and talked about the amazing film that we had just witnessed, chattering on and like little kids talking about their favourite characters in a new superhero movie. No spoilers here though, check out the gallery to see what went down, and don’t miss BlacKkKlansman when it hits Australian cinemas in August 16th.
