The hyper-tense build up foreshadowing their arrival meant the crowd went nothing short of ballistic upon laying eyes on the South African cult villains. Beastly DJ Hi-Tek riled it up with his signature chorus of “DJ HiTek will fok you in the ass” before being joined by his demented MCs, Yolandi Vi$$er and Ninja, in launching a grimey and slime covered “Fok Julle Naaiers”.
Progeric babies, toothless hobos and scenes of 50’s horror films projected behind the trio as they raged through their infamous setlist including “Fatty Boom Boom”, “I Fink U Freeky” and some newer stuff off album ‘Donker Mag’.
Twerking gimps and scenes of a deranged, staring, Ninja enthralled a crowd eager for whatever psychopathic antic was up next from the trio. The energy inside Trak lounge built feverishly until Die Antwoord launched into a beserk, techno-ravey climax predicated by their hit ‘Ugly Boy’.
The lyrics of their riotous closer “Happy Go Sucky Fucky” echoed fittingly into the night as they left the stage to the now enraged crowd happily agreeing; “fuck your rules”.
