Party & Bullshit
Words by Mitch Tomlinson October 18, 2021

If there was ever a time when this phrase is relevant, it’s when you’re talking about Sydney’s Float Fest over the weekend: day for it.

Last week, a bout of pesky cloud cover threatened to dampen Sydney’s first weekend out of lockdown. Plans for freedom day were all but dashed until the party Gods smiled down upon us, parting the clouds and inviting Sydneysiders to make up for 108 days of lockdown with a weekend of sun-filled festivities.

No where was this cloudless freedom more appreciated than aboard the Float Fest yachts that dotted the bay near Taronga Zoo wharf. Mooring around six boatloads of salty-haired revellers, Float Fest took to the seas with DJ Sammy Wallwork at the helm. Fuelling the Sydney Harbour-bound trip was Staple Drinks, who’s gin and vodka concoctions made even more of a splash. Spotted onboard were the likes of Jordy Kuriata, Lauren Kay and Kaitlin Harasta
