Heading into the space, the decor is colourful and inviting, with lively graffiti decorating the walls as well as a sizeable mural depicting a rappers’ take on The Last Supper. Biggie, Cube and Jigga are all present, as is Snoop Dogg, who actually shared the artwork to his Instagram page last night. Playful, pastel prints on the napkins offer attention to detail. Jamal Idris is here, so shouts to him. A DJ booth hangs suspended from the ceiling, and it’s a nicely nonchalant vibe for a breezy Bondi evening.
We start off with the burgers, complete with pillow-esque buns and succulent beef patties, as well as a mushroom option that allows all vegetarians to get involved in the action. Sweet chilli fries act as a crunchy and addictive side. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the monster shakes look nothing less than artery clogging – incorporating more toppings and chocolate variations than you can count, they’re also available with the important addition of alcohol. The bubblegum cocktail comes with a toasted marshmallow too, so everybody wins!
Dessert options are also plentiful and indulgent – cronut bowls come filled with ice cream and generously drizzled in even more chocolate, and it’s clear that few will be leaving Milky Lane with an empty stomach. Whether you’re looking for a three-course meal or a casual cocktail, we’re guessing that Milky Lane is going to be a Bondi hostpot in no time. Head down from this Friday and taste it all for yourself:
