Frolicking through the amicable European summer, we didn’t need any persuading to leave Sydney’s chilly climate for a few weeks – and heading to some of the region’s biggest dance festivals just happened to be a bonus. As per usual, our trip with Carnage was filled with next-level club sets, relaxing vacation and mega-festivals that seem to dwarf anything we’ve seen before, with screaming crowds as far as the eye can see.
Portugal, Spain, Hungary and Austria are just some of the places that we hit – see the photo diary before which features fireworks, Martin Garrix and chorizo. Long live chorizo:
We arrive in Porto, Portugal for a beach festival, but first head off for a little stroll around the town.
We find a small restaurant where you cook your own chorizo in a little boat. We back it.
We catch up with Martin Garrix backstage. What an eternally happy guy, great energies.
Porto goes off.
We then head to Ibiza for five days off. It starts well with foreign girls feeding us cherries in The Chainsmokers’ green room.
Carnage makes a guest appearance at Ushiuia with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and some sparkles.
The beautiful beaches of Ibiza.
Pacha in Spain turned into a full blown mosh pit. Shouts to the guy in the purple DC Shoe shirt.
We arrive in Hungary, which is one of Carnage’s biggest European fan bases. Hungarians go HAM.
Salute the flag.
Carnage decides to get into the crowd with his fans and incite a riot. The stage was shut down within 15 minutes of this happening. Oops.
Austria was next on the agenda for a 100,000 person EDM festival. This was a slightly calmer pre-show situation, dipping our toes into some unbeatable blue waters.
Backstage antics.
Fire and fans.
Ferris wheels and unbeatable dance moves at Electric Love Austria.
We head to Amsterdam for a studio session with Lil Kleine. Only listening to Dutch rap from hereon in.
A blaze of glory, Airbeat One festival in Germany.
Next on the agenda is Ultra for some relaxation time and a sneaky guest appearance. Here we are with EDM heavy-hitters Axwell and Tiesto. Heavy chains, camo shirts and a fruit platter ft. mandarins. This is what success feels like.
Just a small, intimate show with Steve Aoki and about four trillion people.
