With the Sydney leg of suicide support initiative In Pieces having seen 250 people get tattooed an individual puzzle piece, and raised over $140K, there was much to celebrate last night at the gala event we co-hosted at ivy Ballroom. Over the course of the evening, some Australia’s best chefs kept our bellies full with a delicious menu curated by Merivale executive chef Ben Greeno, as we sipped on champagne, Pals and Better Beer while we mingled.
Our own Mitch Tomlinson MC’d the shindig with the In Pieces founder Ben Johnston, the man behind the tattoos and artwork, Gummy Johnston, and former Australian of the Year Patrick McGorry each giving rousing speeches on the impact of project and their own personal experiences with suicide.
Musically there was no shortage of entertainment either. Amber Rose and Zeppelin Hamilton each gave soulful performances, with Cleaves on the decks followed by Jimmy 2 Sox of Flight Facilities who closed out the evening to a packed dance floor. A moving short film by Kai Neville was also shown giving attendees a glimpse into In Pieces and the work that has been done to bring people together for this cause.
One of the biggest talking points at the fundraiser was Alana Maria Jewellery, with Alana and the team offering free custom, permanent bracelets. And shout out to Boost Mobile and Martinus Rail who helped make it happen, as well as everyone who brought an overwhelmingly positive energy to the event.
